License agreement

Baton License Agreement

Copyright 2026 Wes Sander (Practical Systems). All rights reserved.

This is a legal agreement between you and Wes Sander ("we") for the Baton
software, including its source files, documentation and updates ("Baton").
By installing or using Baton you accept it. If you do not accept it, do not
install or use Baton.

1. Trial. You may install and use Baton for 14 days from first use, on the
terms below, to decide whether to buy a license.

2. License. When you buy a license we grant you a non-exclusive,
non-transferable license to install and use Baton as follows.
Personal: one named person, on any number of machines that person uses.
Team: one named person per seat purchased. A Team license also covers use
of the shared board (baton share) by the people holding seats. A Personal
license covers every Baton release dated on or before the date printed in
the license key; releases dated after that require a renewal, and the
releases already covered keep working. A Team license covers releases
   while the subscription is active.

3. Source. Baton ships as readable JavaScript so that you can inspect what it
does on your machine. You may read it and modify it for your own use under
your license. You may not publish, distribute, sublicense, rent, sell or
host Baton or any modified version for others, and you may not remove,
disable or work around the license check or the trial.

4. What is yours. Everything Baton writes for you (session notes, handoff
bundles, worktrees, your repositories) is yours. Baton sends nothing about
your work anywhere; the only network calls it makes on its own behalf are
to this product's site to renew a Team key, and to the agent vendors'
endpoints that the agent CLIs themselves use.

5. Third parties. Baton starts the coding-agent CLIs you already have and use
under your own accounts and their vendors' terms. You are responsible for
complying with those terms; see `baton accounts terms`.

6. Ownership. Baton is licensed, not sold. We keep all rights not expressly
   granted here.

7. Refunds. Within 14 days of purchase, reply to your receipt and we refund
   it.

8. No warranty. Baton is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind,
express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Coding
agents act on your code; you review what they do.

9. Limitation of liability. To the extent the law allows, our total liability
for any claim related to Baton is limited to the amount you paid for it in
the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect,
   incidental or consequential damages.

10. Termination. This agreement ends if you breach it; on termination you
stop using Baton. Sections 6, 8 and 9 survive.

11. Law. This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, USA,
    without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
